14 DAYS FETHIYE - KAS LYCIAN WAY PROGRAM

The Lycian Way, stretching between Fethiye and Kaş, is one of Turkey’s most famous and impressive long-distance hiking routes. This approximately 190-kilometer section is the most popular and most frequently walked part of the route. The trail generally starts from the Ovacık neighborhood of Fethiye and continues all the way to Kaş. Along the way, hikers pass through natural and historical sites such as Faralya (Butterfly Valley), Kabak Bay, Alınca, the ancient city of Sidyma, Pydnai, Letoon, Xanthos, Patara, and Kalkan. With a difficulty level ranging between moderate and hard, this part of the Lycian Way—from Fethiye to Kaş—is a unique route that combines traces of antiquity with modern nature walks, allowing you to be surrounded by history at every step. This stage of the Lycian Way is like an open-air museum that takes you thousands of years back in time with every step.

In the 5th century BC, it was under Persian rule, and in the 4th century BC, it was governed by the Carian Satrap Mausolos and Lycian King Pericles. In 333 BC, it welcomed Alexander the Great with a crown, a significant event in its history. Phaselis joined the Lycian League in 167 BC, minting league coins, and became part of the Roman Empire in 43 BC.

Before your airport transfer the next day, we’ve planned a day in Antalya for the final day of the program. After breakfast, we’ll travel from Tekirova to your hotel in Antalya, a roughly 1.5-hour journey along the scenic coast. In the Hellenistic period, King Attalus II of Pergamon (159-138 BC) told his soldiers, “Go and find me paradise on earth.” Pleased with the location they showed him, Attalus considered its strategic importance and founded a port city there, naming it “Ataleia” after himself.

Örnek Resim “Ataleia” means “Land of Attalus.” Antalya truly is one of the paradise-like regions on earth, as Attalus described.
Örnek Resim 2 One of the city’s most famous structures, Hadrian’s Gate, is a symbol of Kaleiçi, Antalya’s old town, where you can explore narrow streets, historic buildings, and shop. Düden Waterfall, another natural beauty, is very close to the city center.
Örnek Resim 2 The Antalya Museum offers a rich collection for those eager to explore the region’s history. Additionally, Termessos Ancient City, perched atop a mountain, may captivate you with its impressive views and historical ruins. Since it’s free time, we’ll leave dinner up to you.
Örnek Resim 2 For those wanting to extend their day in Antalya, you can visit Manavgat or Düden Waterfalls.
Örnek Resim 2 We’ll spend the night in Antalya/Kaleiçi.
