Turkey Bicycle Tour Marmaris to Fethiye
AN ADVENTURE COMBINING NATURE AND CULTURE
This cycling route, starting from the peaceful town of Selimiye or Orhaniye in Marmaris and stretching to the beauties of Fethiye, has been meticulously designed by our professional team for those who want to discover the most beautiful corners of the Mediterranean on pedals. We tried to pay attention to every detail. In addition, we have established a communication network where you can solve any kind of problem and where we can be with you 24 hours a day. Passing through the coves of Selimiye, meeting ancient ruins, untouched bays, and travelers walking the Lycian Way, we are sure you will carry the past into the future. On your route, you will unite the Aegean Sea with the Mediterranean. We are sure of this and say with confidence: This route will be a unique adventure that combines nature and culture.
Tour Plan
We welcome you at Dalaman Airport and transfer you to either Orhaniye or Selimiye, depending on your preference. Before dinner, we meet the participants and go through the planned route step by step to evaluate the suitability of the bicycles for the tour. We provide comprehensive information about the length of the route, ground conditions, gradient, and possible difficulties. We answer participants' questions and address any concerns they may have.
Orhaniye, a neighborhood of Marmaris, is a village in Turkey’s Muğla province known for its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. It is located about 30 kilometers from the center of Marmaris, on the shore of the Hisarönü Gulf. Situated on the western side of the Bozburun Peninsula, this charming village lies at the point where green and blue meet.
![]() |
Orhaniye’s most well-known feature is Kızkumu Beach. This unique beach stands out with a shallow sand strip that extends approximately 600 meters into the sea. This natural formation, which gives the feeling of walking on water, is a center of attention for both local and foreign tourists. While riding our bikes, you will witness this unique view. If you wish, you can take a short walk on this sand strip. The next day, we will continue along the road shown in the picture. |
![]() |
Those starting our tour from Orhaniye can spend the night here. The picture on the side shows one of our carefully selected accommodation spots in Orhaniye. |
![]() |
For those who wish, you can also start your tour from Selimiye, which is very close to Orhaniye. Unlike large holiday resorts, Selimiye is an area that preserves its tranquility. Instead of massive hotels, you will mostly find guesthouses and boutique accommodations here. We are sharing with you the view from one of our seaside accommodation areas in Selimiye. With 24-hour hot water and fresh air, you can be in touch with the sea just a step away. |
![]() |
Depending on your preference, you can have dinner by the sea in Selimiye. This region is famous for its fish restaurants. Local fishermen deliver the fish they catch daily to the restaurants. |
After breakfast, we ride a flat 15 km course. On the way to Akyaka, you will encounter some of the most enchanting natural landscapes of the Marmaris region. We also pass through villages where we can see examples of traditional architecture.
![]() |
This route offers a pleasant ride with both its natural beauty and scenery. After the first 15 km, a 12 km ascent awaits us. |
![]() |
With this stage, we ascend from sea level to 270 meters. Then, after a 9 km descent, we arrive in Akyaka and complete the day. |
![]() |
At the end of the tour, a boat tour on the Azmak River is possible. The Azmak River originates at the point where Akyaka and northern Gökova meet and flows into the sea from the Gulf of Gökova. The river is 2 km long and its depth can reach up to 8 meters. It is known that the sweet and mineral-rich water of the Azmak River is beneficial for the skin. The water temperature does not exceed 8 degrees in any season. |
![]() |
The Azmak River is like the heart of Akyaka; with its crystal-clear water, ducks, and lush underwater plants, it is worth seeing. It is also one of the most preferred places for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts. |
![]() |
We spend the night in Akyaka. One of our carefully prepared accommodations in this area: You will stay in a room nestled in nature. We will wake up in a room scented with the forest. |

|
After breakfast in Akyaka, we set off towards Dalyan. The road is mostly asphalt with a smooth surface. However, in some parts, the surface may be slightly damaged, so caution is important. The route includes climbs to areas slightly above sea level, so there will be some uphill and downhill segments. This might be challenging for some cyclists, but the scenery is quite beautiful.
![]() |
After passing the first elevation at the 10th km, the second at the 40th km, and the third at the 60th km, we reach Dalyan in the final 15 km of the mostly flat course, accompanied by lake views. |
![]() |
We reach Dalyan via Köyceğiz. Side roads leading to hidden paradises such as Ekincik Bay may also catch your attention. The route is pleasant for cyclists. |
![]() |
You will frequently come across lemon and orange groves along this road. The fertile lands nourished by the Dalaman River become more apparent as you go. There are many spots available for resting. |
![]() |
When we arrive in Dalyan, the historical and natural wonders of the region will welcome you; especially Kaunos Ancient City and the Dalyan Kaunos Rock Tombs are among the most well-known and impressive historical treasures of this area. You can explore the rich heritage of Kaunos Ancient City, dating back to the 4th century BC, with its theatre, temples, and walls. We recommend a boat tour on the Dalyan River to view the rock tombs up close. |

In prehistoric times, the oldest known names of Göcek were Hyparna, Daydala (Daidala), and Kalimçe (Kalimche). Although the borders from that period differ from today’s, Göcek was located between the Carian city of Kaunos and the Lycian city of Telmessos – respectively Dalyan and Fethiye. It is a holiday town connected to Muğla province and is a neighborhood of the Fethiye district. Göcek is especially famous for yacht tourism and hosts sailing tours in the clear waters of the Aegean.
![]() |
After breakfast, we leave Dalyan. Dalaman Center, with its small houses and sweetgum trees, will be a pleasant resting spot. As we leave Dalaman, we reach the highest point where you can see the view of Sarıgerme Bay and the Dalaman Airport basin, just before reaching the village of Kırcagedre. We proceed on a flat course for 26 km. After the 26th km, we reach 330 meters of elevation with a 7 km climb. Then, we descend 12 km to reach Göcek center. |
![]() |
İztuzu Beach and the Caretta Hospital stand out among Dalyan’s most special and must-see locations. İztuzu Beach is a 4.5-kilometer-long golden sandy beach located at the point where the Dalyan River meets the sea. Surrounded by freshwater on one side and saltwater on the other, this unique beach is mesmerizing with its natural beauty and tranquility. |
![]() |
The town's coastal area is filled with palm tree-lined walking paths and charming cafés where you can enjoy the sea while sipping your coffee. The surrounding 12 Islands of Göcek, with their clear waters and untouched bays, are worth seeing. Natural wonders such as the Yassıca Islands, Bedri Rahmi Bay, and Tersane Island can be reached by boat or daily tours. If you want to take a day off from your tour, this is one of the ideal places to choose. |
![]() |
We spend the night in Göcek. Spending the night here is quite different from other places. Its incredible views, charming shops, and being a dream destination for vacationers make it stand out. Along the coast, you will see fish restaurants. It is a natural wonder. We offer you one of our carefully planned accommodations in this area. |

Fethiye has been an important settlement since ancient times. In antiquity, the Lycians, meaning "people of the land of light," possessed this city and it was known as Telmessos. Telmessos (Fethiye) came under Persian rule in 545 BC (6th century BC), and in 333 BC (4th century BC), it was handed over to Alexander the Great. After Alexander’s death, Telmessos remained under the rule of the Egyptian King Ptolemy for a while, but later it was invaded by the Roman Empire and during this period, the city was referred to as Meğri (Makri), meaning "distant land." After the Roman Empire was divided into two, Fethiye (Meğri) remained within the borders of the Eastern Roman/Byzantine Empire.

After breakfast, we leave Göcek. Starting from Göcek’s quiet coves, we cycle through pine forests and face three climbs of 1–1.5 km up to the 15th km. After that, our ride to Fethiye continues along a 20 km flat road. This route is a perfect choice for nature lovers and adventure-seeking cyclists. |

Günlüklü Bay, which has the most beautiful scenery of this region, is a great stop for a meal break. After leaving here, we continue with a 15 km undulating ride and reach Fethiye. The place in the photo is Fethiye... |

Today’s destinations are all part of Fethiye district in Muğla Province. The area is well-developed in terms of tourism. In the Lycian era, it was known as the land of light and sun; in the Middle Ages, as the “distant land.” Located on the Teke Peninsula in southwestern Anatolia, it features one of Turkey’s lagoon formations.

After breakfast, we head towards Kabak Bay. We’ll start this route with a tough climb. Therefore, we warm up on the bike path along the beach. As we go from Fethiye to Kabak Bay, we climb for 5 km to reach Kayaköy. After descending from 360 meters to 150 meters, we arrive in Kayaköy and explore its historic stone houses. |

After a walk in Kayaköy, we climb 5 km from 150 meters to 320 meters to reach Hisarönü Village. After having our meal break in Hisarönü, we descend 3 km down to sea level (Ölüdeniz). While enjoying the view of Ölüdeniz, watching paragliders will also be a delight. |

Then, after a 6 km climb, we reach the view of Butterfly Valley and continue to enjoy these views with our pedals. When we arrive at Kabak Bay, we’ll take a break. We hope you’ll enjoy the beauty of nature. |
![]() |
We spend the night in Kabak. Before you arrive at the hotel, we will have already transferred your bags here. Kabak holds historical importance as a significant part of the Lycian Way. Just like in Faralya, the ancient Lycians established settlements in this region and carried out agriculture and maritime activities with its valleys, roads, and villages surrounded by mountains. Kabak Beach once served as a crossing point along the Lycian Way for monks and merchants. |

After five days of cycling, we wanted you to take a break. We thought Kabak would be the most suitable place for that. Those who wish can take a short walk on the Lycian Way. You can rest by the pool at the hotel. If you like, you can go to Fethiye or Ölüdeniz. A minibus passes from Kabak to Fethiye every 30 minutes. Likewise, there is minibus service from Fethiye to Kabak every 30 minutes. |

If you enjoy swimming, we recommend going down to Kabak Beach, which is very close to your accommodation. You can swim at this bay, which has a beautiful sandy beach.
