This meticulously planned cycling route stretches from the serene coastal villages of Marmaris to the natural and historical beauties of Fethiye. It is designed for cycling enthusiasts who wish to explore the most special spots of the Mediterranean by pedaling. Every detail has been meticulously planned, and a 24/7 communication network has been established for any possible situation. This unforgettable journey blends nature and culture, connecting the Aegean and Mediterranean.
On this tour, you will undertake hikes of varying difficulty levels (moderate and challenging), and you will need to be prepared for long walks on some days. On this route where historical and natural beauties intertwine, you will enjoy hiking on the coastline of the Mediterranean and in forested areas while exploring ancient cities.
The meeting point of nature and history, the section of the Lycian Way between Fethiye and Patara follows a historic route dating back to the 5th century BC. This ancient road served as one of the primary transportation corridors of the Lycian civilization, used by local communities and merchants alike. Beyond its practical function, the route also held religious and cultural significance, connecting settlements across the region. Patara, one of the prominent cities of the Lycian League, stands out for its historical depth, with temples and monumental ruins reflecting its importance in antiquity. Walking this route brings ancient history into the present; following the paths of old caravan roads offers a glimpse into life thousands of years ago. With each step, the traces of an ancient civilization are encountered, becoming part of a journey that began over 2,500 years ago.
Guests are welcomed at Dalaman Airport and transferred to either Orhaniye or Selimiye, according to preference. Before dinner, participants gather for a detailed briefing on the planned route, including an assessment of bicycle suitability. Comprehensive information is provided on route length, terrain conditions, elevation changes, and potential challenges, with time allocated to address questions and concerns.
Orhaniye, a neighborhood of Marmaris, is located in Muğla and is known for its natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere. Approximately 30 kilometers from the center of Marmaris, the village lies on the shores of the Hisarönü Gulf. Positioned on the western side of the Bozburun Peninsula, Orhaniye offers a distinctive setting where lush green landscapes meet deep blue waters.

Orhaniye’s most well-known feature is Kızkumu Beach. This unique beach stands out with a shallow sand strip that extends approximately 600 meters into the sea. This natural formation, which gives the feeling of walking on water, is a center of attention for both local and foreign tourists. While riding our bikes, you will witness this unique view. If you wish, you can take a short walk on this sand strip. The next day, we will continue along the road shown in the picture.

Those starting our tour from Orhaniye can spend the night here. The picture on the side shows one of our carefully selected accommodation spots in Orhaniye.

For those who wish, you can also start your tour from Selimiye, which is very close to Orhaniye. Unlike large holiday resorts, Selimiye is an area that preserves its tranquility. Instead of massive hotels, you will mostly find guesthouses and boutique accommodations here. We are sharing with you the view from one of our seaside accommodation areas in Selimiye. With 24-hour hot water and fresh air, you can be in touch with the sea just a step away.

Depending on your preference, you can have dinner by the sea in Selimiye. This region is famous for its fish restaurants. Local fishermen deliver the fish they catch daily to the restaurants.

After breakfast, the ride follows a mostly flat 15 km route toward Akyaka. Along the way, some of the most captivating natural landscapes of the Marmaris region are encountered, passing through villages that showcase examples of traditional local architecture.

This route offers a pleasant ride with both its natural beauty and scenery. After the first 15 km, a 12 km ascent awaits us.

With this stage, we ascend from sea level to 270 meters. Then, after a 9 km descent, we arrive in Akyaka and complete the day.

At the end of the tour, a boat tour on the Azmak River is possible. The Azmak River originates at the point where Akyaka and northern Gökova meet and flows into the sea from the Gulf of Gökova. The river is 2 km long and its depth can reach up to 8 meters. It is known that the sweet and mineral-rich water of the Azmak River is beneficial for the skin. The water temperature does not exceed 8 degrees in any season.

The Azmak River is like the heart of Akyaka; with its crystal-clear water, ducks, and lush underwater plants, it is worth seeing. It is also one of the most preferred places for windsurfing and kitesurfing enthusiasts.

Overnight accommodation is in Akyaka. One of the carefully selected properties in the area offers rooms set within nature, providing a peaceful stay surrounded by forest scents in the morning.

After breakfast in Akyaka, the route continues toward Dalyan. The road is predominantly asphalt with a generally smooth surface, though some sections may be slightly worn and require caution. The route includes climbs to elevations just above sea level, featuring a combination of ascents and descents. While these sections may be demanding for some cyclists, the surrounding scenery is particularly rewarding.

After passing the first elevation at the 10th km, the second at the 40th km, and the third at the 60th km, we reach Dalyan in the final 15 km of the mostly flat course, accompanied by lake views.

The route reaches Dalyan via Köyceğiz. Along the way, side roads leading to hidden spots such as Ekincik Bay may draw attention. Overall, the route offers a pleasant and enjoyable ride for cyclists.

You will frequently come across lemon and orange groves along this road. The fertile lands nourished by the Dalaman River become more apparent as you go. There are many spots available for resting.

Upon arrival in Dalyan, the region’s historical and natural highlights come into view, most notably the Kaunos Ancient City and the Dalyan Kaunos Rock Tombs, among the area’s most striking landmarks. Dating back to the 4th century BC, Kaunos offers a rich archaeological experience with its theater, temples, and defensive walls. A boat tour along the Dalyan River is recommended for an up-close view of the rock tombs carved into the cliffs.

Overnight accommodation is in Dalyan. One of the carefully selected properties in the area is located close to the town center, allowing time to explore Dalyan at leisure.

In prehistoric times, the oldest known names of Göcek were Hyparna, Daydala (Daidala), and Kalimçe (Kalimche). Although the borders from that period differ from today’s, Göcek was located between the Carian city of Kaunos and the Lycian city of Telmessos – respectively Dalyan and Fethiye. It is a holiday town connected to Muğla province and is a neighborhood of the Fethiye district. Göcek is especially famous for yacht tourism and hosts sailing tours in the clear waters of the Aegean.

After breakfast, departure from Dalyan continues toward Dalaman. Dalaman town, with its small houses and sweetgum forests, offers a pleasant resting point. Leaving Dalaman, the route reaches its highest viewpoint before the village of Kırcagedre, providing panoramic views over Sarıgerme Bay and the Dalaman Airport basin.
The route then follows a flat section for 26 km. After the 26th kilometer, a 7 km climb leads to an elevation of approximately 330 meters, followed by a 12 km descent into the center of Göcek.

İztuzu Beach and the Caretta Hospital stand out among Dalyan’s most special and must-see locations. İztuzu Beach is a 4.5-kilometer-long golden sandy beach located at the point where the Dalyan River meets the sea. Surrounded by freshwater on one side and saltwater on the other, this unique beach is mesmerizing with its natural beauty and tranquility.

The town's coastal area is filled with palm tree-lined walking paths and charming cafés where you can enjoy the sea while sipping your coffee. The surrounding 12 Islands of Göcek, with their clear waters and untouched bays, are worth seeing. Natural wonders such as the Yassıca Islands, Bedri Rahmi Bay, and Tersane Island can be reached by boat or daily tours. If you want to take a day off from your tour, this is one of the ideal places to choose.

Overnight accommodation is in Göcek. The stay offers a distinctive experience, with scenic views, charming shops, and a setting renowned as a favorite destination for travelers. Along the waterfront, a variety of fish restaurants line the coast, enhancing the town’s natural appeal. One of the carefully selected accommodations in the area is arranged for the night.

Fethiye has been an important settlement since ancient times. In antiquity, the Lycians, meaning "people of the land of light," possessed this city and it was known as Telmessos. Telmessos (Fethiye) came under Persian rule in 545 BC (6th century BC), and in 333 BC (4th century BC), it was handed over to Alexander the Great. After Alexander’s death, Telmessos remained under the rule of the Egyptian King Ptolemy for a while, but later it was invaded by the Roman Empire and during this period, the city was referred to as Meğri (Makri), meaning "distant land." After the Roman Empire was divided into two, Fethiye (Meğri) remained within the borders of the Eastern Roman/Byzantine Empire.

After breakfast, departure from Göcek follows a route beginning in the town’s quiet coves and continuing through pine forests. Up to the 15th kilometer, the ride includes three climbs of approximately 1–1.5 km each. The journey then continues toward Fethiye along a 20 km flat section. This route is well suited for nature enthusiasts and cyclists seeking a sense of adventure.

Günlüklü Bay, which has the most beautiful scenery of this region, is a great stop for a meal break. After leaving here, we continue with a 15 km undulating ride and reach Fethiye. The place in the photo is Fethiye...

Overnight accommodation is in Fethiye. The room shown is one of the carefully selected accommodations in the area. For dinner, the city offers a wide range of options within easy reach. Afterward, there is time to visit the Fethiye bazaar and enjoy some shopping.

You can especially explore the Old Town, where you’ll encounter products of traditional Turkish culture. You can visit this market where Turkish delights and spices are sold. Those who enjoy fish dishes can choose one of the restaurants in the fish market. You can also explore the Fethiye coastline and spend time at the seaside cafés and pubs.

Today’s destinations are all part of Fethiye district in Muğla Province. The area is well-developed in terms of tourism. In the Lycian era, it was known as the land of light and sun; in the Middle Ages, as the “distant land.” Located on the Teke Peninsula in southwestern Anatolia, it features one of Turkey’s lagoon formations.

After breakfast, the route continues toward Kabak Bay. The day begins with a demanding climb, preceded by a warm-up ride along the beachfront cycle path. From Fethiye to Kabak Bay, a 5 km ascent leads to Kayaköy. Following a descent from 360 meters to 150 meters, arrival in Kayaköy allows time to explore its historic stone houses.

After a walk in Kayaköy, the route climbs for 5 km, ascending from 150 meters to 320 meters to reach Hisarönü. Following a meal break in Hisarönü, the ride descends 3 km to sea level at Ölüdeniz. While taking in the views of Ölüdeniz, watching paragliders soaring overhead adds to the experience.

This one-of-a-kind scenery the beach you see here was voted the most beautiful beach in the world in 2006 with 82% of the votes.

After the meal break in Hisarönü, the route descends 3 km to sea level at Ölüdeniz, offering magnificent panoramic views along the way.

After a 6 km climb, the route reaches viewpoints overlooking Butterfly Valley, with panoramic scenery accompanying the ride. Upon arrival at Kabak Bay, there is time for a well-deserved break, surrounded by unspoiled natural beauty.

Overnight accommodation is in Kabak, with luggage transferred in advance to the hotel. Kabak holds historical significance as an important section of the Lycian Way. Similar to Faralya, ancient Lycian settlements were established in this region, where agriculture and maritime activities developed amid valleys, roads, and mountain villages. Kabak Beach once served as a crossing point along the Lycian Way for monks and merchants.

After five days of cycling, the day is set aside for rest, with Kabak selected as an ideal location for relaxation. There is an option to take a short walk along the Lycian Way or to unwind by the hotel pool. Optional visits to Fethiye or Ölüdeniz are also possible. Minibus services operate between Kabak and Fethiye every 30 minutes, with the same frequency on the return route.

For those who enjoy swimming, a visit to Kabak Beach is recommended, located within easy walking distance of the accommodation. This bay features a beautiful sandy shoreline and clear waters. It is hoped that these descriptions convey the atmosphere of the region and offer a clear sense of the experience awaiting along this route.
